MYOTHERAPY

Myotherapy uses evidence-based practice to support assessment and treatment of clients with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, chronic and postural conditions and sports and occupational injuries.

Clients may be experiencing pain, decreased range of motion and restricted functional movement. The term ‘myo’ means muscle, although Myotherapists incorporate treatment to all soft tissue including muscle, fascia, tendons and ligaments.

Myotherapists are expertly trained to assist with injury prevention and reduction, comprehensive clinical assessment, early intervention, treatment and management of injuries/conditions/disorders, rehabilitation and ongoing management of chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Myotherapy treatments can be adapted to suit individual requirements regardless of age, gender, athletic and ability levels. A biopsychosocial model is applied to our treatments.

Myotherapists treatment modalities may include the following: trigger point therapy, cross-fibre friction, myofascial release, muscle energy technique (MET), stretching including PNF, active release technique, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), dry needling, Rockblades, cupping and Rocktape. Home exercises and self-care is a crucial aspect within a treatment plan.
